About Me

Luke Harris is a Black award-winning Director-Writer and a graduate of USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he studied Film & Television Production. He served as President of the African American Cinema Society, founded by John Singleton.

 

He won the 2022 #CreateLouisiana French Cultural Film Grant for his film Tambou, starring Lance E. Nichols, which premiered at the 26th French Film Festival.

 

He was a finalist at the 2022 New Orleans Film Festival’s South Pitch and was selected for the 2023 NOFS Emerging Voices Directors Lab and NOVAC's 2023 Director’s Documentary Cohort.

His film Pam, which he wrote and directed, was featured on Omeleto and has garnered over a million views.

He wrote and edited The First Day of Being Black, which won a Jury Award at the Student DGA Awards. His series Provenance, which he wrote and produced, won Best Drama at the College Television Awards and was selected for SeriesFest.

 

Luke’s film South Body won the Audience Award at the 2023 New Orleans Film Festival, and his short documentary You Will Not Replace Us won the Audience Award at the 2024 Annapolis Film Festival.

 

He won the 2024 NAACP Cinematic Shorts Challenge for his film Danny Boy, receiving a $10,000 grant which led to the production of his documentary Jeremiah’s Big Christmas Party.

 

His latest short film ManBoobs is a finalist for the 2025 HBO Short Film Award at the American Black Film Festival.

Luke is in pre-production of his debut feature film.
